A New Addition....

Say hello to Gibson! Goo's new little brother is already causing chaos...he's a face licker, and seems to have spread a cold around. Sam's not too happy his little girl is sick. Off to the vet with both of them tomorrow.

Three Days of Rain....

You think the rain gets you down? Three days of rain turned one of Bosch's favorite treats into a head rest!

A place for my stash.

another fabulous piece of furniture built for me by Sam...for my yarn, books and other various knitting things...

Glass Block

These may not be the most thrilling pics in the world, but we were excited about it! In early May we got glass block installed in the basement windows and in the bathroom.

The view from the inside bothers Sam a bit...it's the amount of mortar...

The bathroom window from the outside...with custom trim.

And a shot of the basement windows from outside...

Like i said....not thrilling...

It's Been A While!

I know, i've not done a whole lot on here as of late....so get ready for it!

Hey! It's me!

this shows you what a little bit of editing can do....we didn't actually stay to see the part of the bridge that eventually came down. For those that don't know the story, the Fulton Rd bridge over the Zoo has been in bad shape for a long time. So, this past Saturday it was supposed to be imploded. Now for me, getting up early on a Saturday is a HUGE deal, but seeing anything implode qualifies! So we got down to the park at about 7:30 am along with about a thousand other people and waited. The warning sirens went off about 15 minutes late, the countdown began, and BOOM....
but that was it, just BOOM. Well, maybe a little bit of smoke...
Then the rain started....we waited a while, and the powers that be said it would be 45 minutes or so until they could try again....so we waited some more.
The men in hard hats started to gather and one of them gave a thumbs up to the crowd. We got the five minute warning...then the two minute warning....
Everyone that stuck around in the cold and rain had their cameras out and aimed and held their breath during the countdown....
3...2....1
NOTHING....AGAIN!!!!!!
The loudest collective groan i have ever heard came from the crowd (Tribe games included!). Mind you it was almost 10 am at this point and i expected at be back at home and back to sleep well before this point.
Milling around the media zone, ODOT announced that they would try one more time, but that it would only be one section of the bridge (over the train tracks...that trains were scheduled to use in less than 24 hours!) and that would be in another hour...
We were tried, hungry, cold and wet...so we went home.
As you can see, that one section did manage to fall...but there was another delay because an old lady fell down the hill we were all standing on! I heard the explosion while i was out in the back yard.
Thanks to Dave for getting me the clip about 3 minutes after it aired!

Spring WAS here...

Spring was here for a couple of days....this past weekend we took a bike ride...

there were naps in the sun...

there were even flowers ready to bloom...

now everything is buired under about two inches of snow

The Bedroom contiuned...

So, where were we...

As yes the wall paper...

now that it was down and the walls were ready to be painted...we decided to do the ceiling first. We were looking for more of a star shape than a swirl. What we got with the brush we bought wasn't EXACTLY what we wanted but it ended up looking good.
We were WAY too picky about this, and kept going back any finding blank spots that looked a little too big and putting up more compound with a paint brush. I'll just chalk any major mistakes up to the large amount of Pabst that was consumed during the job!

Sam made some moulding and managed to match the stain to the rest of the woodwork pretty darn close...all that's left to do is put up the ceiling fan we got for Christmas and build a bed!

Ta Da!!!

ongoing.....

there is wallpaper EVERYWHERE in the house...the worst of it in the Master Bedroom. Sam and I both agreed....it was was so bad we wouldn't even be able to sleep in there....the flowers are HUGE and the background was iridescent and shiny....observe....

Luckily, the paper came off very easily...obviously nothing else had ever been done to these walls...behold one of the strangest colored construction materials you will ever see! (look--Weeble Dad is peeking at you!)

SNOW!!

finally...it's stopped, which is a good thing because we don't have any more room for it in the back yard!

Project Number One...

Thanks to unseasonably warm weather, we left Bosch at Sam's mom's for as long as we could. Eventually we had to figure out somewhere for him here. Thus, the big box....Sam later added a little enclosure for him.Sometime in late November we had a nice warm weekend and brought Bosch outside for his first look around his new backyard....i think he was a bit confused at first...
But he soon found a spot that made him happy, a place where the folks that wanted to drag him back into the basement feared to go.....under the prickly rosebush!

Welcome!

Howdy, and welcome to my first attempt at this blog thing...lots of folks wanted to see pics of the new house, and i thought this would be more fun than just emailing out a bunch of photos. So, Sam and I moved into "the bunker" in late September 2006. It's a 1956 brick ranch, two bedrooms, one bath. As you can see...it's very cute, in pretty good shape. Aside from some plumbing issues, no major troubles (yet!).

A nice big garage for Sam, and a nice little yard for Bosch

The kitchen has a lot of room to move and beautiful, original cabinets.

Goo loves to sit in the windows and watch the world go by...
