Hey! It's me!

this shows you what a little bit of editing can do....we didn't actually stay to see the part of the bridge that eventually came down. For those that don't know the story, the Fulton Rd bridge over the Zoo has been in bad shape for a long time. So, this past Saturday it was supposed to be imploded. Now for me, getting up early on a Saturday is a HUGE deal, but seeing anything implode qualifies! So we got down to the park at about 7:30 am along with about a thousand other people and waited. The warning sirens went off about 15 minutes late, the countdown began, and BOOM....
but that was it, just BOOM. Well, maybe a little bit of smoke...
Then the rain started....we waited a while, and the powers that be said it would be 45 minutes or so until they could try again....so we waited some more.
The men in hard hats started to gather and one of them gave a thumbs up to the crowd. We got the five minute warning...then the two minute warning....
Everyone that stuck around in the cold and rain had their cameras out and aimed and held their breath during the countdown....
3...2....1
NOTHING....AGAIN!!!!!!
The loudest collective groan i have ever heard came from the crowd (Tribe games included!). Mind you it was almost 10 am at this point and i expected at be back at home and back to sleep well before this point.
Milling around the media zone, ODOT announced that they would try one more time, but that it would only be one section of the bridge (over the train tracks...that trains were scheduled to use in less than 24 hours!) and that would be in another hour...
We were tried, hungry, cold and wet...so we went home.
As you can see, that one section did manage to fall...but there was another delay because an old lady fell down the hill we were all standing on! I heard the explosion while i was out in the back yard.
Thanks to Dave for getting me the clip about 3 minutes after it aired!

Wow can you say "really bad PR for whoever the Demo firm was that was responsible for that botch job. Let give them three cracks at it and still not get the job done right. Give a few rednecks a couple hours and some nitro they have it down.
The zoo people have to be thrilled with this. Do you think they'll charge for the extra tranquilizers they will have to administer to Jumbo the elephant or what ever the fuck freaked out animals they are going to have at the zoo.

"Sorry, Jumbo you're going to have to stay in the hose down room for another day or so while clevus and his pals demolish the bridge one Black Cat at a time."

schmucks!

ps. wow! do a google image search for "firecracker" holy crap!
